Man sought in Chicago arrested in Alabama
BRENT, Ala. (AP) — A Chicago fugitive arrested in rural central Alabama is being returned to Illinois to face multiple drug charges.
Authorities say 40-year-old Corey Griffin was captured Thursday in the town of Brent. He was considered one of Chicago’s most-wanted fugitives and has been featured on billboards seeking information on his whereabouts.
Griffin is accused in an alleged conspiracy to distribute more than two pound of heroin in northern Illinois. He’s also charged with three more counts of heroin possession.
A federal wanted poster says the 5-foot-9, 220-pound Griffin is known by the nickname “Fat Rat.” He was allegedly involved in a gang called the Traveling Vice Lords.
Authorities have been looking for Griffin for seven months.
