Leon Calvin ‘Bingo’ Clem

The funeral for Leon Calvin “Bingo” Clem, 79, of Ardmore will be at noon Thursday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Dale Mitchell and Buddy Payne officiating. Burial will be in Hasting Cemetery in Ardmore.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Clem died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Sunbridge Care of Ardmore, Tenn.

Bingo was born Jan. 6, 1929, in Limestone County to Robert L. and Mattie Frances Magnusson Clem. He lived in Limestone County all of his life and was well known by all of his friends at flea markets and auction sales. He also loved to fish. He was the great-grandson of Confederate war veteran H.B. Wright, who is buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Limestone County.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Calvin Leon Clem; and four sisters, India Furline, Robbie Furline, Linda Faye Usery and Martha Jean Clem.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Whitehead Clem of Ardmore, Tenn.; five sons, Jerry and Pearl Clem and Jason, Robert L. Clem, Danny Clem, Steve Clem and Randall Allen Clem, all of Ardmore; one brother, Thomas J. Clem of Athens; five grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and two great-granddaughters.
