Boyfriend of Alabama woman found dead in stranger’s home arrested
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The 40-year-old boyfriend of a woman, whose decomposing body was found in a stranger’s home, has been charged with capital murder.
Authorities Thursday identified the dead woman as 39-year-old Christy Lynn Kelly Cook. Anthony Gene McClellan was taken to the Jefferson County Jail early Thursday and formal charges of capital murder were announced Friday. He’s being held without bond. It was unknown if he’s represented by an attorney.
Cook was last seen March 7 and reported missing to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office last week. Authorities say the couple apparently broke into a man’s home and Cook ended up dead from two gunshot wounds. McClellan claims he accidentally shot her.
