Man arrested on child pornography charges

An Athens man was arrested Saturday on two counts of possessing child pornography after images were found on his cellphone, an official said.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Stephen Young said the phone belonging to 29-year-old Jeremy Roy Cameron of 26240 Nick Davis Road, was confiscated during a search warrant in November. He added those images were found by Lt. Johnny Morell after a forensic examination of the device.

A new search warrant was issued for Cameron’s residence Saturday, which resulted in the seizure of more cellphones, a computer and gaming systems. Those devices are now undergoing a forensic analysis, Young said.

In addition to the confiscated devices, investigators also found drug paraphernalia at Cameron’s residence.

After being charged, bond was set at $5,000 on both counts of child pornography and $1,000 the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Cameron was released on bond Saturday.
