LCSO: Man injured woman with pole trimmer
A Sunday night altercation resulted in a woman being injured by a pole trimmer and her alleged assailant facing assault charges.
Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Stephen Young said Deputy Jeff Kilpatrick responded to a 911 hangup call in the 16000 block of Log Cabin Road. Young said Kilpatrick could hear a woman screaming for help as soon as he entered the neighborhood.
Kilpatrick then located a female on the back porch of a residence, bleeding from her head. Further investigation revealed the woman had gotten into a verbal altercation with her boyfriend, who lived at the residence.
Young said the boyfriend, 35-year-old Jason Duane Bridges, of 16020 Log Cabin Road, Athens, pushed the female out of the residence onto the back porch and then struck her with a pole trimmer he retrieved from the laundry room.
The female was taken by ambulance to Athens-Limestone Hospital for treatment. Bridges was arrested on charges of second-degree domestic violence assault.
Bond had not been set as of late Monday afternoon.
