Russellville man who withdrew plea convicted of manslaughter
RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A man who changed his mind after pleading guilty in the shooting death of his live-in girlfriend has been convicted a second time in her death.
The TimesDaily of Florence reports that 42-year-old Jason Dewayne Green of Russellville was convicted of manslaughter Thursday. Green also was convicted of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after two days of deliberation.
Authorities accused Green of killing Shay Nicole Ledlow in the home their shared in 2011.
Green claimed that Ledlow shot herself, but he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2015. He later changed his mind and said he’d been misled about the potential sentence he could face.
Courts granted another trial, and jurors have now convicted Green. He faces a sentence of 10 to 20 years at a hearing later this month.
