H’ville woman faces felony charges in Ohio
A Huntsville woman was one of two people indicted earlier this month by an Ohio grand jury in connection to the sale of fentanyl, according to a press release..
Kayla Scadden, 27, of Crimson Rose Drive, is in the Madison County Jail on a charge of being a fugitive from justice and is awaiting extradition to Athens County, Ohio. The address is in Huntsville-annexed Limestone County.
She and Jason A. Daugherty, 35, of Hockingport, Ohio, allegedly sold heroin to Gregory L. Jackson, who then overdosed and died in the parking lot of a convenience store in Washington County, Ohio.
According to a press release from the Athens County Major Crimes Unit, Daugherty was arrested June 5 on a felony warrant related to a previous investigation following a drug raid at a home in Hockingport, Ohio. Scadden was named as a second suspect in the case.
Athens County Sheriff Rodney Smith said the investigation showed Daugherty and Scadden were involved in the sale of heroin in Athens County. The release said the drugs sold to Jackson caused his death.
“The suspected heroin recovered at that death scene was tested and found to be fentanyl,” Smith said in a press release.
Daugherty and Scadden both face felony charges of involuntary manslaughter and felony second-degree corrupting another with drugs. Scadden was booked into the Madison County Jail on June 5. No bond has been set.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
