Local 4-H’ers handed out stickers and shared information about 4-H with visitors to their booth Monday at the fifth annual American Education Week kickoff celebration at the Limestone County Event Center in Athens. From left are John Eaker and Jacob Schmitt, seventh-graders at East Limestone High School; Cori Glasper, an eighth-grader from Athens Middle School; and Sydney Pressnell, an Ardmore High School sophomore. Pressnell took a moment to praise 4-H’ers from Sugar Creek Elementary School who were selling handmade items such as headbands and tic-tac-toe boards to raise money for their school and local animal shelter. “I thought it was cool that they’re leading their school to better things,” she said.
