George Michael Grabryan Sr.

George Michael Grabryan Sr. died Wednesday, April 16, 2008. A Colorado native, he came to Sheffield in 1981. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery.

George was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville, and completed a year of graduate study at both Tulane University and the University of Alabama. He was a former member of the American Economic Association and was retired from the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy (Pacific area) from December 1941 to January 1946.

Survivors are his wife, Florence Bickley Grabryan of Sheffield; sons, George M. Grabryan Jr. of Florence, and Fred B. Grabryan of Sheffield; daughter, Susan L. Grabryan of Atlanta, Ga.; and granddaughter, Brynne Grabryan of Sheffield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sheffield First United Methodist Church.

Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia is directing.
