George Marshall Bynum

Visitation for George Marshall Bynum, 61, of Decatur will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Roselawn Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Decatur City Cemetery.

Mr. Bynum, who died Monday, April 21, 2008, was born Feb. 15, 1947, in Evansville, Ind., to Willis Newell Bynum and Eugenia Faye Bynum. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and one sister, Rebekah Faye Bynum.

He is survived by one daughter, Brigid Kathleen Steed and husband Richard Wayne Steed of Decatur; five grandchildren, Emma Nicole Steed, Thrasher Monroe Steed, Halleigh Alexis Steed, Ashlynn McKinley Steed and Taylor McKenzie Steed, all of Decatur; one brother, Willis Russell Bynum of Decatur; and one sister, Nancy Jane Auton of Huntsville.

Mr. Bynum retired after 25 years of service as a Decatur firefighter and owned an appraisal business in Athens. He served in the Army from 1966 to 1970 in Vietnam and Germany.

In lieu of flowers, George and his family ask that donations be made to Hospice of North Alabama, 3311 Bob Wallace Ave., Suite 101, Huntsville, Ala., 35805.
