The funeral for George Francis Cooper, 89, of Athens will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home with Edward Jenkins officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Cooper died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Crestwood Medical Center.

He was born June 14, 1922, in Nashville. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

He was a former member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was retired from Monsanto of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Cooper and brothers, William “Bud” P. Cooper Jr. and Kenneth N. Cooper.

He is survived by his son, G. Perry Copper and wife Lisa of Athens; and a granddaughter, Katie Cooper of Athens.
