Airstream rally to be part of 2018 Fiddlers Convention

The 52nd annual Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention will feature plenty of pickin’ and grinnin’, but it will also feature a new attraction — a special event rally featuring Airstream trailers.

The Alabama Unit of the Wally Byam Airstream Club will host the rally on the campus of Athens State University Oct. 2-7 to coincide with the convention. The convention runs Oct. 4-6.

“Holding the rally in Athens will give event-goers the opportunity to experience the rich culture and history of the city as well as enjoy all of the excitement the Fiddlers Convention has to offer,” said a press release about the event.

In addition to the traditional music competitions, jam sessions, food, arts and crafts, this year’s convention will feature headlining artists Flatt Lonesome (Thursday), Rhonda Vincent and the Rage (Friday), and Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder (Saturday).

The cost for the Airstream rally will be $50 per person 12 years of age or older and $30 for children under the age of 12. This price includes admission to the Fiddlers Convention on Oct. 5-6.

For more information on the rally, email athensairstreamrally@gmail.com.
