Five arrested for meth after traffic stop
The peculiar actions of the five occupants of a car led Athens Police Officer Jonathan Caldwell to search the vehicle, resulting in drug arrests for the four men and one woman, said Capt. Floyd Johnson.
Caldwell stopped the car Wednesday night for a routine traffic violation on Pryor Street and noticed the driver was acting suspiciously. Caldwell discovered batteries and plastic tubing materials used to make methamphetamine — as well as ingredients for meth inside the car.
The woman, Tammy Green, also had controlled0substance pills in her possession, Johnson said.
Arrested were:
• Tammy Carol Green, 35, of 16609 Blackburn Road, Lot 9, Athens, second-degree manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance.
• James William Kellum, 32, of 28537 Jennings Chapel Road, Toney, second-degree manufacturing a controlled substance, possession methamphetamine.
• George Morris Pylant Jr., 22, 22015 Slate Road, Athens, second-degree manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance (meth).
• Jesse James Savage, 32, 22284 Buttermilk Way, Athens, second-degree manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance (meth).
• Bobby Ray Berryhill, 19, 16609 Blackburn Road, Lot 9, Athens, second-degree manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance (meth).
