STEPS reading program

The Limestone County NAACP is offering a free motivational reading program for children ages 3-13. Transportation and lunch provided at no cost. The program, titled Students Taking Excellence Personally = Success (STEPS), will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Round Island Creek Mission Center, 13829 Lucas Ferry Road, Athens. MONDAY

Summer reading program

Ardmore Public Library will feature “Beauty and the Beast” at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, as part of its summer reading program for children 12 and under. This year’s theme is “Build a Better World” and is sponsored by Dollar General and First National Bank. A participation prize will be given daily and there will be a drawing for two tickets to the Tennessee Aquarium. More information: 1-931-427-4883.

Job Fair

The Family Resource Center will host a job fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at 406 S. Jefferson St. beside Dub’s Burgers in Athens. More information: 256-230-0880.

Respite night

Caregivers Night Out will be 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 14, at Poplar Creek of Clements Baptist Church, 10880 Snake Road, Athens. Make reservations by calling 256-232-7207 no later than noon Thursday.

Free workshop

The Limestone County Master Gardeners Association will present a free workshop on toxic plants from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Lowe’s garden center in Athens. More information: 850-393-1717.

Gospel singing

The second annual TRIAD Gospel Singing will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Berea Baptist Church at 16779 Lucas Ferry Road, Athens. Entertainers will be Piney Creek, Brandon Pylant Family and Revived. Ticket are $5 at Creekside Drugs and Berea Baptist Church. Free to children 10 and under.

Germantown reunion

Family reunion

Swamp Johns fundraiser

Mental health fundraiser

Summer concert series

Matt Prater will be the featured entertainment Friday, July 21, for Singing on the Square at the Limestone County Courthouse. Show begins at 6 p.m. Rain location is the Vietnam Veterans of America building at 17915 W. Elm St. in Athens. Bring lawn chair.

Master Gardeners

Limestone County Master Gardener classes begin Thursday, Aug. 10. Classes are 14 weeks and meet from 5-9 p.m. each Thursday evening. Space is limited. Hepatitis testing

The Family Resource Center will hold a free, confidential hepatitis testing 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at 406 S. Jefferson St. beside Dub’s Burgers in Athens. Testing is in support of World Hepatitis Day and HIV testing will also be available. More information: 256-230-0880. 

Fundraising banquet

The Women’s Resource Center will host speaker Pam Tebow at its annual fundraising banquet, set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Limestone County Event Center. Tickets are $50 per person or $600 per table. Event will also feature The Hogan Family Singers and a silent auction. More information: 256-233-5775.

Kiddie Carnival

The Athens Lions Club Kiddie Carnival at 309 E. Forrest St., Athens, will be open 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 5. Each ride requires a 50-cent ticket. Tanner book-lending machine

The Athens-Limestone Public Library staff will be at the Tanner book-lending machine Fridays from 9:45-10:45 a.m. to make library cards, teach patrons how to use the book-lending machine and answer questions about library services. More information: Visit www.ALCPL.org or call 256-232-1233.

Stability class

East Limestone Senior Center will host their SilverSneakers stability class from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. every Thursday at 25820 Nick Davis Road. SilverSneakers is a group exercise class designed to keep participants safe on their feet. The class will include standing and walking exercises designed to decrease the risk of falling. MEETINGS

Master Gardeners. Limestone County Master Gardeners Association will meet Monday, July 10, at the County Extension Office on Market Street in Athens. Social time with refreshments begins at 12:30 p.m. The speaker will be Scott Brannon with Distinctive Landscapes at 1 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome. Friendship Quilt Guild. The Friendship Quilt Guild will meet Monday, July 10 at the Revival Center across from the First Presbyterian Church.
