Fire Marshal urges common sense with fireworks
DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — Alabama Fire Marshal Edward Paulk says that despite dry weather, there are no changes to the state’s fireworks policy this year.
Paulk points out that Alabama remains under a no-burn policy, with a ban on all outdoor burning.
He says fireworks are a cause of fires, along with barbecuing and cigarettes, and officials are asking that people exercise common sense.
Paulk says people need to be prepared to extinguish a small fire if one starts, and should have a water supply nearby.
He says fireworks should be purchased from licensed dealers, and that residents should be aware of illegal fireworks.
