Fire destroys Elkmont home
A fire destroyed a home just north of Elkmont early Monday, but there were no injuries reported.
“The family told our deputies they have been having electrical problems,” said Limestone County Sheriff’s Investigator Brad Curnutt. “The family was away from home at the time it started.”
The fire occurred at the home of Bobby Reebes at 28296 Alabama 127, Elkmont.
Firefighters from Elkmont and Owens Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the 2 a.m. blaze. Curnutt said deputies do not suspect anything suspicious.
By the time the first firefighters arrived on the scene the house was completely engulfed in flames, deputies said.
Witnesses at the scene said the owners apparently do not have insurance.
The fire occurred after the owner of the house had left to go pick his wife up from work. They said she was employed at McDonald’s, but did not know where she worked.
Fire officials and authorities from Elkmont were not available for comment Monday.
