Tanner advanced to the Class 2A Northwest Regional tournament final with a 51-46 win over Sumiton Christian Friday night.

The Rattlers (26-6) are attempting to get back to the Final Four for the second consecutive year. The third quarter was the difference in the game, as Tanner broke open a 21-21 halftime tie by outscoring Sumiton Christian 18-7 in the third quarter.

Sumiton Christian (22-8) tried to come back in the fourth quarter, but Tanner was able to hold them off to advance to the regional final. Malik Atkins led Tanner with 22 points, while JJ Jones scored 12 and Jireh Jackson added nine.

The Rattlers will play Vincent in the regional final at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

Vincent advanced to the regional final with a 41-40 win over Red Bay in the semifinal.
