Filming begins Wednesday in Huntsville on TV movie
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Filming begins Wednesday in Huntsville for a TV movie that’s scheduled for airing next year on ABC.
A spokesman for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s Space Camp, Tim Hall, says about 100 cast and crew members will spend about two weeks working on a movie about special education students attending Space Camp. The story is based on the book “A Smile as Big as the Moon” by former coach Mike Kersjes.
The movie is being made by Hallmark Hall of Fame Productions.
The director of the Alabama Development Office, Greg Canfield, says the state’s new tax incentives for the film industry is making the state more competitive, and the Huntsville movie qualifies for those incentives.
