County BOE to hear plans for West Limestone land use
The Limestone County Board of Education will vote tonight on whether to hire Birmingham-based Davis Architects to conduct a land utilization study at West Limestone.
The study would allow members of the board to analyze 50.2 acres of land near West Limestone High School that could eventually provide practice fields and perhaps baseball fields and an elementary school in the future.
The property was purchased in April as part of a long-range plan and as a necessity for the land-locked school.
No formal plans have been made for the property. However, the land, which was a hay field, is flat enough to use for practice purposes.
The property is located behind the ballfield and goes along West Limestone School Road for .8 mile, then extends to Salem-Minor Hill Road.
The Limestone County Board of Education will meet at 6 tonight in the old City Hall.
