County approves FY2011 budget
The Limestone County Commission approved the county’s fiscal year 2011 budget Monday, which includes a 3-percent cost-of-living increase for employees,
The total budget is $29,826,801. This is up from the 2010 budget of $29.6 million.
Monday’s agenda also included approval of an agreement with the Mental Health Center of North Central Alabama to pay the Juvenile Court liaison $55,000 annually.
Other business
In other business, the Commission approved:
• Contract with S&W Minicomputers for maintenance contracts hardware and software, including $12,290 software and $18,608 hardware for the License Commissioner;
• Contract with the Alabama Department of Youth Services Long Term Detention Subsidy
• Contract with Dr. Robert Pitman and Limestone Veterinary Clinic for animal control at $9,200 monthly;
• Matching funds of $8,000 for the county’s portion of the Limestone County Public Water System Digital Mapping Project;
• Contract for George T. Craig, director of the Limestone County Community Corrections, for $72,406.43 annually;
• Contract for Myra Peck, administrative assistant of Community Corrections for $22,000 annually;
• Agreement with Beth Batts to provide services as a court referral officer for Community Corrections for $48,000 annually;
• Approval of Family Medical Leave for Kevin Vibbert
• Updating job descriptions for: Website editor and purchasing/accounting clerk at the commission office;
• Adopting the staffing plan
• Preliminary approval for K&S Acres, a minor subdivision with seven lots in District 4 off Section Line Road, east of Tillman Mill Road;
• Selling a 1987 Chevrolet Blue Bird Model 15 passenger bus on GovDeals.com for District 2;
• Approval of a 5-cent increase in solid waste fees, effective Oct. 9 because an increase in landfill fees;
• Funds to Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful household hazardous waste collection in an amount not to exceed $15,000;
• Resurfacing with plant mix one mile of Pepper Road between Lindsay Lane and Piney Creek at a cost of $75,000;
• Heard a report from Commission Chairman David Seibert that the Recycling Center is looking for an open piece of land on which to establish a used tire recycling facility.
