Chizik: Ziemba’s injury not serious
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn coach Gene Chizik says left tackle Lee Ziemba’s knee injury doesn’t appear to be serious.
Chizik said Sunday the coaches won’t know until the week progresses and Ziemba goes through rehab. Ziemba hurt his right knee during the Mississippi State game. He tweeted that an MRI showed no tear.
Guard Mike Berry said Ziemba practiced Sunday evening.
Ziemba has started all 40 games since arriving as a freshman. Junior college transfer Brandon Mosley took over his spot, but Chizik says sophomore John Sullen could also be a possibility if necessary.
Tailback Mario Fannin also hurt his shoulder against Mississippi State, and Chizik says he’s in a similar boat to Ziemba. Fannin started against the Bulldogs but has only eight carries this season.
