Carl Meredith

The funeral for Carl William Meredith, 74, of Madison will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McConnell Funeral Home with Bro. Danny McMullins officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Meredith died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, in Madison.

He was born Jan. 3, 1936, in Limestone County to Mabrey Carl Meredith and Willie Mae Thompson Meredith. He served eight years in the U.S. Air Force and served 30 years with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Mr. Meredith was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 21 years, Ruby, and wife of 28 years, Diana; brothers Wiley Meredith and Johnny Meredith, and a sister, Ida Meredith.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Boyd and husband Bradley of Bloomington, Ind.; two sons, David Meredith and wife Regina of Charleston, Ill., and Ronald Meredith and wife Rachel of Stafford, Va.; grandchildren, Madison and Morgan Meredith, Sarah and Mackenzie Meredith, and Drew and Will Boyd; two sisters, Joyce Downs and husband Arlin of Madison, and Mary Melson of Athens; a brother, James Meredith of Athens; and five stepchildren.

Pallbearers will be Derek Downs, Tracy Tyler, Jonathan Steen, Don Thompson, Patrick Crowder, Darren Bailey, Michael Meredith and Dan Sasser.

Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Downs, Drew Boyd and Will Boyd.
