S. Limestone VFD treasurer accused of stealing money
A Madison woman was arrested Thursday because authorities believe she stole tens of thousands of dollars from the South Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, an official said.
Limestone County Sheriff’s Deputy Stephen Young said Angela Robinson Sides, 43, of 28669 Hardiman Road, was charged with first-degree theft in connection with the alleged misappropriation of funds. Bond is set at $5,000.
A press release from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said investigators were made aware of a possible theft Tuesday. During an investigation, Sides, the department’s treasurer, was developed as a possible suspect.
Investigators and the Alabama State Fire Marshall’s Office questioned her Wednesday, at which time Sides confessed to taking the money to pay personal bills that had accrued.
Young said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
