Athens woman facing 19 charges over forged prescriptions
An Athens woman is facing 19 charges, including forgery, false Medicaid claims, trafficking in stolen identities and drug possession, records show.
Angel Monzell Wilson, 41, of 27386 Ed Ray Road, was arrested Wednesday on nine counts of second-degree forgery, eight counts of making false Medicaid claims, one count of trafficking in stolen identities and one count of possession of a controlled substance, records show.
She remained in the Limestone County Jail Thursday evening with bail set at $50,000.
According to Limestone County District Court records, an investigator with the Giles County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee called Limestone County Sheriff’s Investigator Jamie King on Oct. 31, 2017, to tell him he had received a report from an employee at HH Physicians Care about Wilson trying to pass a forged prescription at an Athens pharmacy. The forged prescriptions had Drug Enforcement Agency numbers that did not coincide with the doctors on the prescriptions. The report from HH Physicians Care also listed three other suspects.
During the course of his investigation, King determined there were nine forged prescriptions for 280 tablets of Adderall in 15, 20 and 30 milligram doses passed at CVS, Limestone Drug and Walgreens in Athens between Oct. 2 and 16.
King obtained surveillance camera footage from CVS showing Wilson in the drive-thru, dropping off forged prescriptions, as well as still photos from Limestone Drug showing Wilson driving the same car as in the CVS video while both dropping off and picking up prescriptions.
