• After-school program. The after-school program from 3-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at David’s Temple Church in Tanner accepts children ages 5-18. Homework assistants, tutoring and study hall are available. Van pickup is available to all Athens city schools except Athens High. Children from Tanner High can ride the bus. • Yard sale. Sardis Springs Baptist Church will host a yard sale fundraiser 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3 and 4, at the fellowship hall. More information: 256-874-5714.

• Women’s conference. The 2017 Seasons of Life Women’s Conference will be 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 4, at Friendship Church. The event will feature music from Mary Young and speaker Debi Trumball. Admission and lunch are free. More information: Pat Gartman, 256-777-7153; friendshipumc.org/umw.

• Quarterly singing. Oakland Church of Christ will host its quarterly singing at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the church at 18111 Townsend Ford Road, Athens. This event is open to the public. More information: 256-729-8866.

• Appreciation day. Westside Church of Christ at 25704 Smithfield Road, Elkmont, will host Family & Friends Day and Minister’s Appreciation Day starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. The church will honor Minister Alvin and Sister Beverly Simmons with worship at 10 a.m., Bible study at 11:15 a.m., lunch at 12:30 p.m. and afternoon worship at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker is Minister Harold Wells of Newcomb Street Church of Christ in Decatur. • Homecoming. Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming and 139 years of church services starting at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. Morning services will be led by Pastor Mylon Burwell with music from Mount Zion sanctuary choir. Afternoon fellowship will begin at 2 p.m. with special guest Dr. Maurice Childress, pastor of Meridianville Primitive Baptist Church.

• Lesson series. Westview Church of Christ at 15855 Lucas Ferry Road, Athens, will host a series of lessons presented by Kenny Moorer from God’s word at the following times: 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Sunday Nov. 5; 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6; 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7; and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8.

• Swamp John’s. St. Mark Primitive Baptist Church of Athens will host a Swamp John’s dinner from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Jimmy Gill Park. Plates are $10. Proceeds will benefit St. Mark youth. More information: Francene, 256-431-8886.

• Smart Money. Emmanuel Baptist Church will live-stream Dave Ramsey’s Smart Money Event at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7. The event is free and will feature Dave Ramsey and his daughter, Rachel Cruze. Registration at ebcathens.com. More information: 256-232-6193.

• Christmas market. Epic Church will host the Epic Christmas Market from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Limestone County Event Center in Athens. Vendor items include jewelry, clothes, crafts, home goods, cosmetics, personalized items and more. Proceeds will be used for families in need during the holiday season. • Anniversary. David Temple M.B. Church in Tanner will celebrate the 31st anniversary of its pastor, Dr. Jothan White, on Sunday, Nov. 12. Guest speaker for the 11 a.m. service is Dr. Donaldson Jones, pastor of Mount New Home M.B. Church in Leighton. Guest speaker for the 2 p.m. service is Dr. Earl Johnson, pastor of Christ Community Church in Huntsville.

• Interfaith panel. The Curtis Coleman Center for Religious Studies and Ethics will host its fall interfaith panel at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Founders Hall Chapel on the Athens State University campus. The panel is a public dialogue among three great Abrahamic faith traditions on cooperation, hospitality and benevolence. Panelists include Daniel Schenker, Robert Ferrell of Interfaith Mission Service and Aladin Beshier of Huntsville Islamic Center.
