History teachers get a boost
During the February board meeting of the Limestone County Historical Society, all fourth-grade teachers in Limestone County and Athens City school systems were presented items to be used in the teaching of Alabama History. This is the fourth year of the program. Fourth-grade is the only grade in which Alabama history is taught. Each Athens City teacher received a $20 gift certificate to be used on materials for the teaching of Alabama history. In a pilot program the Limestone County teachers will receive four biographical books about famous Alabamians. Attending the meeting are, from left, Garner Ezell, elementary curriculum director for Athens City Schools; Marianna McCoy, education chairperson for the Limestone County Historical Society; and Sharon Gallien, elementary curriculum director for Limestone County Schools.
