Alabama heat wave continues; Birmingham sets highs
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The National Weather Service says Birmingham’s high temperatures have broken or matched each day’s record high for three days, and hot weather is expected to continue.
The high has reached 101 at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport every afternoon since Sunday.
On Sunday, the high matched the record high of 101 set in 1987.
The 101 degrees reached on Monday broke the record high for the day, 99, set in 1897. The record high for Tuesday had been 100 and was set in 1947.
The heat wave is expected to continue across central Alabama through Thursday.
