Alabama heads preseason coaches All-SEC team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Alabama placed seven players on the coaches’ preseason All-Southeastern Conference first team, including running back Trent Richardson and safeties Mark Barron and Robert Lester.

South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, running back Marcus Lattimore and cornerback Stephon Gilmore were all picked to repeat as first-team performers, along with Barron, Kentucky linebacker Danny Trevathan and Georgia placekicker Blair Walsh.

Defending national champion Auburn didn’t have a player picked on the first team.

Arkansas led the way with 14 total picks on the three preseason All-SEC teams. Georgia had six first-teamers, including sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray.

Alabama linebacker Don’t’a Hightower and offensive linemen Barrett Jones and William Vlachos also made the first team.
