Alabama Ethics Commission considers teacher gifts
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama Ethics Commission is meeting to consider how the state’s new ethics law affects holiday gifts for public school teachers.
The Alabama Association of School Boards requested advice from the Ethics Commission, and it’s on the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting in Montgomery.
The commission’s executive director, Jim Sumner, says the commission has been getting about 25 calls a day about holiday gifts for public employees.
The Legislature enacted the ethics law last December. It covers everyone in state, county and city government in Alabama.
