An work-release inmate who walked off his job in Athens April 1 has been recaptured, records show.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office found Jeffrey Ryan Davis, 47, an inmate of the Alabama Department of Corrections, in Vina and he was recaptured by the sheriff’s office and the Alabama Department of Corrections I & I Division. He had been free for a week.

Davis was serving a 180-month sentence on a conviction for second-degree theft in 2017, and was assigned to the North Alabama Community Based Facility and Community Work Center in Decatur. He was working at Cast Products Inc. in Athens when he walked off the job.
