Taylor Creekmore hit a driving layup with 3.0 seconds left to lift Ardmore to a 43-42 victory over rival Elkmont Thursday night. It was Creekmore’s only basket of the game.
Elkmont had taken a one-point lead when Davis Hobbs hit two free throws with 10.7 seconds left, but Ardmore got the ball to Creekmore, who drove the lane and made a contested layup for the winning basket.
Hobbs had one last chance at the buzzer, but his desperation 3-point shot went off the backboard and then the front rim.
The game was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than five points. The score was tied 20-20 at halftime, and Ardmore led 38-35 after three quarters.
