Stewart Whitt fired a three-day total of 214, including a 3-under-par 69 in the final round, to claim his second straight win at the PGA National Club Championship last week.

Whitt, who played golf at Athens High School and the University of Alabama, entered the last day of the 54-hole competition trailing by five shots in the Men’s Open Division but recorded several birdies – including a 25-footer on the 18th hole — at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. to triumph by one stroke over four other golfers.

Whitt (Canebrake Club) carded scores of 71 and 74, respectively, during the first two rounds and went into the final round tied for ninth. He then got off to a blazing start on the Monument Course en route to sealing the deal for the second straight year.

He also won last year’s event at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina.
