A woman driving the van that fatally struck an Ardmore man in April 2016 was arrested Saturday on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident with injury.
Limestone County District Attorney Brian Jones on Monday said Deborah Cunningham Scott, 54, of 375 Jade Lane, Toney, was indicted on the charge in December. She was released on bond shortly after her arrest.
No other information was made available about the case, which was investigated by state troopers.
Charles Wayne Gates, 69, was struck and killed April 7, 2016, by a 2014 Kia minivan driven by Scott. Gates was crossing Alabama 251 after getting mail from his mailbox when he was struck. The collision occurred just south of Pinedale Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials at the time said Scott did not remain at the scene and was later apprehended.
