An Athens woman is accused of assaulting her boyfriend by throwing a metal file and injuring him, an official said Wednesday.
Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said officers were called Tuesday night to Hines Street near Fifth Avenue about a suspicious man walking down the street, bleeding from his leg.
“When Officer Mac McWhorter arrived, he called for an ambulance due to the injury to the man’s leg,” Johnson said.
The man told McWhorter he had been injured when his girlfriend, 46-year-old Mollie Irene Rosenblum of 401 Sanders St., Apt. 5, threw a metal file at him, hitting him in the leg. The chief said Officer Jarrod Smith went to Rosenblum’s apartment, where she invited him inside so she could explain her side of the story.
“While inside the apartment, Smith noticed digital scales and methamphetamine,” Johnson said. “Later, officers located marijuana and other items of paraphernalia.”
Rosenblum was arrested and taken to the Police Department for booking before being transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where bail is set at $14,500. She is charged with second-degree domestic violence – assault, second-degree illegal possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Johnson said the victim was treated at the emergency room and released.
Not the first time
Records show Rosenblum was arrested by Athens police in October 2016 after a man escaped her home and was found running along Market Street in his underwear. The man told investigators he’d been kidnapped over a financial dispute.
Rosenblum was charged with first-degree kidnapping and second-degree assault. After she posted bond and was released, investigators learned her co-conspirator, Wendell Todd Fain, had also been held captive by Rosenblum in August 2016. She was re-arrested and charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, menacing and third-degree assault related to the August incident.
On Nov. 30, 2017, Rosenblum was sentenced to 20 years in prison on the kidnapping charge, but it was suspended pending completion of four years with the Limestone County Community Corrections Program and five years of supervised probation.
The Limestone County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion Wednesday asking the court to revoke Rosenblum’s LCCCP sentence and impose her original 20-year prison sentence.
Libel case
Earlier this year, a federal judge ruled in favor of real estate agent Monika Glennon in her libel suit against Rosenblum. Rosenblum had anonymously posted a story about Glennon to the “She’s A Homewrecker” website in September 2015, alleging she had hired Glennon to help her find a new home and instead found her engaging in a sexual act with Rosenblum’s husband.
The story was shared multiple times and included a photo of Glennon that appeared on business cards and real estate signs. Another version, from the perspective of the husband, was posted to ReportMyEx.com.
Rosenblum never appeared in court or otherwise defended herself against the suit, records show, but she did file an affidavit in which she admitted the story was false. Records also show Rosenblum had never met Glennon and Rosenblum’s husband was dead at the time of the alleged encounter.
