One man was transported by Athens EMS and another was taken to the hospital by a family member Wednesday morning after a car rear-ended a garbage truck on Shaw Road in Clements.

Rescue workers extricated the unidentified male driver of a blue Chevrolet Impala using hydraulic rescue tools.

Clements and Tanner volunteer fire departments responded and received aid from TVA Brownsferry Nuclear Plant Fire Department, who provided the rescue tools.

The crash occurred on Shaw Road about a mile south of Ripley Road.

Another male was taken from the scene in a passenger vehicle with a cut to the head
