Earlier this week, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office officially introduced the department’s newest member, K9-Neke, as a part of the LCSO team.
K-9 Neke is a Belgian Malinois born on Aug. 1, 2022, and she is trained in narcotics odor detection, tracking and article finding. She will assist with daily patrol activities, narcotics operations, jail searches, school safety, along with other duties.
K-9 Neke’s partner is Limestone County Sheriff’s Deputy Levi Williams. Deputy Williams joined the Sheriff’s Office in March 2022 and previously served the Limestone County Correctional Facility.
For Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin, welcoming Neke has been a longtime goal. He shared some of his plans preparations with The News Courier in a March 2023 interview, and now that it is a reality he looks forward to the benefits Neke brings.
“We are excited to welcome Neke to our team. Her addition allows us to provide additional services to our citizens that we are honored to serve and protect,” McLaughlin said.
