Responding to a tip, members of the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, along with Athens-Limestone Rescue Squad divers and a Madison County investigator, searched three hours Friday for the body of a man missing since 2013.
They found nothing.
Sheriff Mike Blakely said the Sheriff’s Office had received a tip, though not first-hand, that the body of Jerry Morris might be found in a certain area of Limestone Creek off Gatlin Road and Shady Grove Lane, which are located in northwestern Madison County.
“We didn’t know if we had reliable information but we look when we get these tips,” the sheriff said Saturday.
Searchers had to use an all-terrain vehicle or walk to the area that was to be searched, Blakely said.
Missing
Since October 2013, the Sheriff’s Office has conducted searches for Morris, last seen in the McKee Road area on July 21, 2013, which is the northeast part of Limestone County. Morris’ mother, Shirley Wilson, reported her son missing in October 2013.
The Sheriff’s Office has sought the public’s help in finding Morris several times since his disappearance, noting a reward is offered for information leading to him.
After the Sheriff’s Office again asked for the public’s assistance in August, a tip came in.
Morris
Morris stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs about 130 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. He also has multiple tattoos on his body. If you have seen Morris or have any information about his location, call the Sheriff’s Office at 256-232-0111.
