Sex offender arrested after failing to register

A man convicted of second-degree rape was arrested again Tuesday for failing to let officers know he had changed addresses, an official said.
Keifer Jackson Fillmore, 27, was arrested Tuesday on two warrants related to violations of the state Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. Records list his address as Town & Country Motel on U.S. 31 in Athens.
Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said the first warrant was for terminating his residence without notifying the police department. The second warrant was for failing to register in September 2018.
Johnson said Officer Greg Parnell discovered Fillmore had moved in August of last year while doing compliance checks. When Fillmore didn’t register a new address the next month, Parnell obtained the warrants.
Fillmore’s registration as a sex offender stems from a 2015 conviction for second-degree rape of a 15-year-old female in Cullman County. Fillmore was arrested on the charge in October 2014 and pleaded guilty in March 2015.
Fillmore remains in the Limestone County Jail with bail set at $30,000.
