One person was killed in an early morning car wreck in Limestone County, state troopers said.

Officials said the victim’s vehicle left Elk River Mills Road and struck an embankment at approximately 12:22 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle later caught fire and the driver died at the scene.

The driver has not been identified. The crash is under investigation.
