An Athens man was arrested Friday in connection to thefts and a burglary at Jimmy Smith GMC, an official said.
Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said 19-year-old Jaterrius Tywon Burrell of East Sanderfer Road was arrested on warrants for two counts of first-degree theft and one count of third-degree burglary.
On the morning of Monday, Dec. 3, the dealership reported a break-in to police. A GMC Canyon and Buick Encore were also reported stolen. Both vehicles were recovered a short time later in Decatur.
After being booked at the Athens Police Department, Burrell was taken to the Limestone County Jail. He has since been released on bond.
“The investigation into this case is continuing and more arrests are expected,” Johnson said.
