The International Collectors Association are at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Athens through Saturday to purchase Civil War relics and hear tales from the war, including those about the Sack of Athens.
Military experts are looking specifically for items from the Civil War. They will be at the inn at 1222 Kelli Drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Recent finds include a Confederate Uniform for $3,500, Confederate flag hung from general’s tent for $2,000, Confederate money hidden in the walls of a residence, a letter written by Abraham Lincoln, and much more.
Athens is the latest stop on the Treasure Hunters Roadshow worldwide tour. During this event collectors are hoping to see items such as hats, belt buckles, saddles, cannon balls, powder horns, rifles and side arms, and anything related to the Civil War.
This is the first time in history collectors have hosted a show for any specific category.
The event is free.
