BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala. (AP) — The Mobile County Personnel Board has upheld the firing of former Bayou La Batre police officer Raymond Shelly.

The 28-year-old police corporal was fired in July and lost his Personnel Board bid to regain his job Tuesday.

Bayou Police Chief John Joyner says Shelly — while on duty— acted as a “lookout” for his stepbrother’s criminal activity.

Joyner also says all the drug and traffic cases that Shelley worked on duty had to be thrown out of court.

Shelly has denied any wrongdoing.
