Ardmore’s Hodges in top 5 at state golf tourney

Ardmore junior Lee Hodges finished in the top five after the first day of the AHSAA state golf championships in Muscle Shoals.

He finished the day tied for third with an even par 72 on 18 holes at the Shoals Golf Course.
Hodges’ low score helped Class 4A Ardmore to a fourth-place finish with a team score of 329 after the first day of the two-day tournament.
Ardmore’s other golfers competing at state are Andrew Eakes (79), Zac Garner (80) and Ty Beck (98). Eakes and Garner finished in the top 12 out of 35 golfers competing in 4A.
Guntersville led the 4A boys division with a team score of 318 while Oneonta’s Cody O’Toole was the 4A individual leader with a 69, 3-under par.
Athens’ freshman Micheala Williams is competing in the 1A-5A girls tournament as an individual, but her score was not available as of 5:30 p.m.
The final round of the tournament will begin Tuesday morning.
