A 29-year-old Elkmont man accused of critically injuring a man by kicking him in the head was arrested Sunday by Limestone County authorities.

Casey Wayne Anderson of 22651 Piney Chapel Road was charged with second-degree assault and was being held Monday in Limestone County Jail without bond. Limestone County Chief Investigator Capt. Stanley McNatt said Anderson was arrested after Benjamin Tinnon, 33, of Country Lane Apartments was hospitalized Saturday with severe head wounds.

Tinnon was taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital night and then transferred to Huntsville Hospital by Medflight helicopter. He was listed in critical condition Monday in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

McNatt said the two men got into a fight Thursday and witnesses told investigators that at first, it did not appear Tinnon was hurt all that bad.

“But witnesses said Saturday he was found unresponsive and they had to call an ambulance to take him to the hospital,” the investigator said.

Tinnon was treated at Athens-Limestone Hospital and then transferred to Huntsville Hospital.

McNatt said witnesses told investigators that Anderson “just snapped” and starting beating Tinnon.

“He kicked him in the head several times with his work boots,” McNatt said. “We know there was some drinking going on, but just what brought on the fight we don’t right now.”

The investigation is continuing, McNatt said.
