Margaret Baker

The funeral for Margaret Baker, 68, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home with Dwight Raburn officiating.

Burial will be in Fielding Cemetery.

Mrs. Baker died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

She was born May 27, 1938, in Madison to John Harrison Kyle and Velma Lee DeFoe Kyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis Haggermaker; one son, Jeffery Joe Haggermaker and one daughter, Wanda Gayle Royster.

Mrs. Baker is survived by two daughters, Marie Adams and Betty L. Haggermaker, both of Athens; one son, Lelend Ray Haggermaker of Athens; one son-in-law, Andrew Dale Royster of Tanner; one sister, Annie Pearl Ratliff of Athens; three brothers, Franklin W. Kyle, Gene Harrison Kyle and Joseph Eugene Kyle, all of Athens; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.



Charles E. Carter

The funeral for Charles E. Carter, 63, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. today with Bob Watson and Don Osborne officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Myers Cemetery.

Mr. Carter died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at home. He was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Athens to Morris E. Carter and Cleo Beddingfield Carter. Mr. Carter was employed at Monsanto for 17 years and retired from Delphi after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul Carter and Keith Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Carter of Athens; two sons, Brad Carter and wife Kim, and Chad Carter, all of Athens; three brothers, Don Carter of Hartselle and Randall Carter and Danny Ray Carter, both of Athens; two sisters, Shirley Moss of Elkmont and Diann Carter of Athens; three grandchildren, Lawson Carter, Olivia Carter and Hayden Carter, all of Athens.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Locke, Sid Keeton, Tommy Craig, Terry Adams, Ben Carter, Chris Moss, Shane White and Derrick Barnett.



Gracie Cluxton

The funeral for Gracie Cluxton, 75, of Hartselle will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery with Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be 5 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cluxton passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at home.

She was born April 5, 1931, in Limestone County to Ruby Turner and Aileen Collins Turner.

She is survived by one son, Danny Faulk of Hartselle; three daughters, Dorothy Caldwell of Farmington, Mich., Shirley Page of Pulaski, Tenn.; and Linda McBay of Elkmont; two brothers, Robert Adams of Athens and James Adams of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Sara Erwin of Veto and Della Faulk of Athens; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brandon McBay, Aaron Loughary, Jeff Perry, Clinton Woods, John Kilpatric and Patrick Marcum.



Odilene Carruth Gaston

The funeral for Odilene Carruth Gaston, 97, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. today at Hobbs Street Church of Christ with Bill Irby and Don Osborne officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home directing.

The body will be in the church from 1 to 2 p.m. today.

Mrs. Gaston died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at home. She was born Feb. 26, 1909, to Mason Carruth and Ada Dollins Carruth. Mrs. Gaston was a lifetime resident of Limestone County. She was a faithful member of Hobbs Street Church of Christ. She was a very family oriented person. While able, she provided care for the young, elderly and the ill. Mrs. Gaston was a very accomplished quilter, and was once an active member of Athens Limestone Homemakers Club.

Mrs. Gaston was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grady Paul Gaston Sr.; one son, Grady Paul Gaston Jr.; and four brothers, Walden Carruth, Willard Carruth, Ed Carruth and Pete Carruth.

She is survived by three sons, Ben Gaston and wife Ruth of Athens, James Gaston of Meridianville, Jack Gaston and wife Beverly of Athens; one daughter, Martha Janell Austin of Athens; one brother, Van Carruth of Spartanburg, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 13 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family of Mrs. Gaston would like to thank Hospice of Limestone County for all their care and support.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Tony Gaston, Grady Paul Gaston III, Michael Nelson, Greg Gaston, Marty Gaston, Rodney Gaston.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth Alongi and Donald Foss Jr.



Roy Carlton ‘Shorty’ Gatlin

The funeral for Roy Carlton “Shorty” Gatlin, 77, of Tanner will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Eric Bell officiating. Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Gatlin died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at home. He was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Limestone County and retired from Bamsi at Redstone Arsenal.

He is survived by four sons, LeRoy Gatlin, Wesley Gatlin and Jimmy Gatlin, all of Athens, and Oneal Gatlin of Missouri; three daughters, Lulu Embry of Lake Station, Ind., Janie Swan of Rogersville and Betty Tucker of Tanner; two brothers, Jackson C. Gatlin and Brice L. Gatlin, both of Athens; two sisters, Marie Harbin of Athens and Janie Spears of Florida; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are LeRoy Gatlin Jr., Heath Tucker, Neal Gatlin, Shawn Gatlin, Jimmy Gatlin II and Jamie Gatlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Swan, Brandon Swan, Brenton Gatlin, Hunter Gatlin and Bailey Gatlin.



Mary Frances “Sallie” Harris

Mary Frances “Sallie” Harris, 62, of Athens passed away on Feb. 15, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be Wednesday, Feb. 21 at noon at Round Island Creek Missionary Baptist Association Mission Center with Pastor Damon T. Betts officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. A visitation hour will be today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Harris; two children, Keith Harris of Athens and Rita Hill and husband Larry of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Devan Harris, and Carrington and Christen Hill.



Shirley Jean Hollis

Graveside services for Shirley Jean Hollis, 67, of Athens will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oaklawn Cemetery in Hattiesburg with Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home directing.

Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

Visitation will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hollis died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at home.



Rose Nell Craig Lovell

The funeral for Rose Nell Craig Lovell, 67, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. today at Spry Funeral Home with Buc Chumbley and Doug Matlock officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lovell died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Crestwood Medical Center. She was born July 28, 1939 in Limestone County and retired from the Eaton Corp. She was a member of Westview Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, James Earl Lovell of Athens; one daughter, Vicki Akins of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Steve Lovell of Pensacola, Fla., and Keith Lovell of Winder, Ga.; three sisters, Louise Gross of Ardmore and Nina Starnes and Betty Carter, both of Athens; two brothers, Dewey “Hopper” Craig of Winterhaven, Fla., and Robert Orville “Mose” Craig of Athens; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers William Arnold Craig and David Craig and sister Frances Bond.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Craig, Mark Craig, Joe Brooks, Mike Craig, Sam King and Tony Andrews.



Clara Taylor

The funeral for Clara Taylor, 89, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Cecil Norman and Donald Terry officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Burial will be Antioch Cemetery.

Mrs. Taylor died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at her residence. She was a member of Truth Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Taylor; grandson, Jonathan Taylor; son-in-law, Wayne Cleveland; brother, Raymond Swanner; and sister, Irene Tyler.

She is survived by three sons, Frank Taylor and wife Louise of Weaver, Stanley Taylor and wife Connie of Athens, Kenneth Taylor and wife Beverly of Athens; daughters, Ruby Appleton, Earline Cleveland, Marie Dean and husband Bobby, and Brenda Holcomb, all of Athens; one brother, Buford Swanner and wife Bernice; sisters, Addie B. Tyler, Lura Andrews and Delia Nave, all of Athens; 19 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Appleton, Brad Dean, Randy Vinson, Dustan Taylor, Justin Taylor, Nick Tucker, Corey Weaver and Blake Moffatt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Norman, Kevin Appleton, Ricky Watts, Tommy Wilson and Jason Haggard.



R.T. Terry

The funeral for R.T. Terry, 79, of Moulton will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Price and Etta Marshall officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mr. Terry died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at Lawrence Medical Center. He was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Courtland to Clint M. Terry and Jessie M. Terry. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Juanita Terry; his son, Kenneth Terry; his; four brothers, Bessmer Terry, J.C. Terry, Dee Terry, M.C. Terry; and one sister, Edna Fowler.

Mr. Terry is survived by three daughters, Sharon Garrison and Darleen Lovette, both of Moulton, Charlene Thomas of Tanner; one son, Scott Terry of Moulton; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Terry, Charles Terry, both of Plainwell, Mich.; four sisters, Luarolean Letson of Moulton, Etta Marshall and Hayward Bumgart, both of Plainwell, and Jean Bellinger of Otsega, Mich.

Pallbearers will be Shane Terry, Mickey Brannon, Shannon Cartiz, Chris Terry, Brandon Terry and Chad Terry.



Robert Morris Tribble

The funeral for Robert Morris Tribble, 87, of Madison will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with John Bryson and Charles Thompson officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Madison City Cemetery.

Mr. Tribble died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at his residence. He was a member of Greenbrier Church of Christ and retired from Wolverine Tube in Decatur. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hopkins and Bertha Tribble; brothers, Lonzo, Dean and Billy Tribble; and sister, Irene Cole.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Clera Mae Pepper Tribble of Madison; sons, Wayne Tribble and wife Robbie of Madison; Larry Tribble and wife Charlotte of Madison; daughter, Beverly Haney and husband Horace of Athens; grandchildren, Geal Tribble Jones and husband Bobby of Athens, David Tribble and wife Barbara of Toney, Patrick Tribble of Athens, Sonia Haywood and husband Jim of Athens, Anna Budisalich and husband Scott of Priceville, Andrea Dowland and husband Lynn of Athens, Matt Haney and wife April of Athens; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Tribble of Silver Springs, Md.; sisters, Erlene Hayes of Grant, and Joyce Abernathy of Vero Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Matt Haney, Lynn Dowland, David Tribble, Patrick Tribble, Bobby Wade Jones, Jim Haygood and Scott Budisalich.
