Brittany Marie Phillips and James Corey Looney

Jeff and Lynda Phillips of Athens announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Marie Phillips, to James Corey Looney, son of Jackie and Debbie Looney of Athens.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Tommy and Jackie Phillips and Linda Callahan, all of Athens, and the late Thomas P. Callahan.

She is a 2009 graduate of West Limestone High School and is currently attending Calhoun Community College where she is pursuing a degree in nursing.

She is employed by First Baptist Daycare as a caregiver.

The prospective groom is the grandson of James Howard of Rogersville and the late James and Ozell Looney and Christine Howard.

He is a 2004 graduate of West Limestone High School and a 2012 graduate of Athens State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in education from West Alabama.

He is employed by Calhoun Community College as an assistant baseball coach.

The wedding is planned for May 19 at the home of the groom’s parents.
