Doris Grissom

Doris Ann Stone Grissom, 87, of Russellville passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012.

Doris was born March 30, 1924, in the Frog Pond Community of Franklin County to Arthur Jackson and Florence Lorena Wingo Stone. She was the last surviving member of her family that included siblings Clyde, Nell (Isom), Boyd, William and Bobby.

She married Earl Grissom on Oct. 6. 1945. They resided in the Isbell community of Franklin County for 57 years until his death in 2002.

She is survived by her sons: Danny Grissom and wife Norma Jean of Hartselle, Curtis Grissom and wife Sharon of Athens, Robin Grissom and wife Diane of Belgreen, Tim Grissom and wife Lori of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Julie Hunter and husband Mark, Emily Hoffner and husband Eddie, Lee Ellen Sharp and husband Derek, Gretchen (JW) Ekiss, Laura Lou Smith and husband Derrek, Clay Grissom, Suzanne Glass and husband Matt, Sarah, Joel, Josh and Hannah Grissom; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Sam, and Andrew Hunter, Gigi, Gentry, and Molly Mac Sharp, Elizabeth and Louisa Ekiss.

Doris was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Isbell Church of Christ for more than 55 years.

The visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. today at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mark Hunter, JW Ekiss, Clay Grissom, Joel Grissom, Derek Sharp, Derrek Smith, Matt Glass and Joshua Grissom. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Horton, Steve Stone, Keith Stone, Don Ezzell and Jimmy Speck.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving care, support and attention provided our mother by the Country Cottage — Russellville; Limestone Health Facility — Athens; Sharon Johnston, Raymond and Judy Horton, and Matt Glass.
