Wedding: Haney-Gates

Mrs. Samuel Spencer Gates

Kimberly Marie Haney and Samuel Spencer Gates, both of Athens, were married in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony April 9 at First United Methodist Church with the honorable James Wright Woodroof IV officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Haney of Athens. Her grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Haney Sr., Mr. and Mrs. John L. Keyes Sr.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Gates of Athens. His grandparents are Mr. Carl Gates of Athens and the late Mrs. Lillian Gates and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Rich.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The maid of honor was Ellen Delores Gooch. Bridal attendants were Jennifer Nicole Cooper, Caroline Elizabeth Gates, sister of the groom, Shelly McCormick Haney, Megan Hensley Harris, Jenia Stephenson Kyle and Ryan Jacqueline Tucker.

The flower girls were Addie Ruth Ellison and Madelyn Nicole Menneffee.

Doug Gates, the father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Alan Woodroof Booco, Justin Vinson Burgreen, Wesley Morgan Canestrari, Wesley Neal Coleman, Clayton Joe Dodson, Bryan Nicholas Hamlin, Clayton Leon Haney, brother of the groom, John Barry Roberts and Jim Whitney Skipworth.

The ringer bearers were William Garrett Hamlin and Collin Alexander Stevens.

Music was provided by Mrs. Canna Ricketts. The guest register was kept by Maggie Woodroof and Victoria Sims.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Limestone County Event Center.

After a trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple returned home to Athens.
