Daniel Ralph Brett Sr.
The graveside service for Daniel Ralph Brett Sr., 78, of Athens will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Ripley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home.
Mr. Brett died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, in Huntsville Hospital.
James Eugene Davis
The funeral for James Eugene Davis, 73, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home with Eddie Littrell officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Davis died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1933, in Limestone County. He was retired from General Motors in Pontiac, Mich., and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Davis of Athens; one daughter, Gail Ryan of Waterford, Mich.; three sons, James E. Davis Jr., of Waskom, Texas, Terry Ray Davis of White Lake, Mich., David Davis of Pontiac, and Douglas Davis of Athens; two brothers, Elmer Davis of Dothan and Wayne Davis of Athens; two sisters, Betty Welch of Farmington, Va., Nellie Lockaby of Fort Worth, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Clara O. Elders
The funeral for Clara Ozell Elders, 86, of Athens was at 2 p.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Craft and Dewey Craft officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Elders died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Athens Convalescent Center.
She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Limestone County. Mrs. Elders was retired from Athens-Limestone Hospital. She had been a member of the First United Pentecostal Church for 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. “Tree Daddy” Elders; four sons, Junior Elders, Billy Elders, Jimmy Elders and Homer Elders; two grandsons, Terry Elders and Jeff Elders; and one great-granddaughter, Casey Elders.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Elders and wife Shirley of Athens; three sisters, Geraldine Richards, Lucille Hughes and Mary Furline, all of Athens; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shane Elders, Larry Elders, Rickie Elders, Frankie Elders, Brad Hastings and Kerry Green.
Grace Hampton
The funeral for Grace Hampton, 90, of Athens will be at 10 a.m. today at Gallant Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hampton died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Athens Convalescent Center.
She was a native of Marshall County, Tenn., and the daughter of the late Louis and Lou Johnson Shubert. She was a machine operator for Serbin for more than 40 years and a member of the West End Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Henry Hampton and wife Pat of Athens; one granddaughter, Jennifer Leah Rogers; five sisters, Ola Weir and Daisy Shubert, both of Fayetteville, Tenn., Katerne Teal of Hinesville, Ga., Audry Jackson of Horn Lake, Miss., and Mary Fannie Corder of Huntsville; one brother, James Shubert of Fayetteville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Wade Harris
The funeral for Wade Harris, 57, of Toney will be at 2 p.m. today at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Ricky Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Hatchett Cemetery.
Mr. Harris died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
He was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Veto to James Frank Harris and Nancy Ethel Furline Harris. He lived all his life in this area. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He enjoyed spending time with is grandchildren, building things and gardening. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Gitta Harris of Toney; his mother, Nancy Harris of Madison; one son, Gary Harris and wife Faith of Harvest; one daughter, Meike Fisk and husband Lance of Athens; two brothers, Tony Harris of Hazel Green and Bob Harris of Madison; one sister, Doris Marsh of Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Caleb Fisk, Noah Fisk and Timmy Harris.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Harris, Robby McCormick, Christopher McCormick, Ed Cartier, Scott Curtis, Mac McDaniel, Denny Marsh and Timothy Camp.
Kenneth Earl Junior
Mr. Kenneth Earl Junior, 75, of Madison passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, in Athens.
Mr. Junior was born in Alabama and had been a life-long resident of Madison. He served four year in the Army during the Korean War, then worked for Morton Thiokol as a mechanical and chemical engineer and retired after 35 years of service.
Mr. Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Grace Junior.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Atnip Junior of Madison; one son, Daniel E. Junior of Lewisburg, Tenn.; one daughter, Janice Junior and Dr. John C. Long of Port St Lucie, Fla.; one brother, James Junior of Madison; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville.

Eloise Mae Phillips
The funeral for Eloise Mae Phillips, 69, of Athens, will be at 4 p.m. today at Round Island Baptist Church with Daryl Brooks officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, Ind.
Mrs. Phillips died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Morris Swanner
The funeral for Morris Swanner, 74, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home with Brother Randy Johnson, Wayne Bynum and Jimmy Swanner officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Swanner died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann Veterans Home in Huntsville.
He was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Limestone County to James Herman Swanner Sr. and Mary Pressnell Swanner. Mr. Swanner was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, an Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Wolverine Tube in Decatur and from General Motors. He was a kind and loving father, grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret Swinea.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Swanner of Athens; one daughter, Rita Swanner Jordan and husband Kenny of Tanner; one son, Greg Swanner and wife Angie of Tanner; one brother, Herman Swanner Jr. of Athens; four sisters, Anne Bynum of Milton, Fla., Evelyn Marsh of Limestone County, Doris Henderson of Milton, Fla., and Jean Sulcer of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Swanner, Gregory Swanner, Brady Jordan, Seth Jordan, Sean Jordan, Maggie Sloan and Kayla Sloan; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tim Sulcer, Marty Allen, Dickey Kennedy, Freddie Henderson, Jeff Henderson and Jimmy Swanner.
Honorary pallbearer will be Nicholas Wilson.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Calvary Baptist Church.
Harold Wayne Walker
The funeral for Harold Wayne Walker, 63, of Athens will be announced by Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. Walker died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, in Decatur.
