Absentee voting for the Nov. 2 election is handled by Limestone County Circuit Clerk Charles Page, whose office is located in the Courthouse on Jefferson Street in Athens.

The wrong office was listed in Thursday’s edition of The News Courier.

If you plan to vote absentee, the Circuit Clerk’s office in the Courthouse must receive your application for a ballot by the Thursday before the election, which is Oct. 28.

Your completed absentee ballot must be postmarked by the day before the election and received by noon on Election Day. Or, you must hand-deliver it to his office by 5 p.m. the day before the election.

Remember, before you can cast an absentee ballot, you must be on the county’s active voting list. Only registered voters with up-to-date information are on that list. To make sure you are registered and that your information is current, check your voter status online at www.alabamavotes.gov.

Friday is the deadline to register to vote or to update that information. You can do that at the Board of Registrars at the Courthouse annex or print off a voter registration form from www.alabamavotes.gov, fill it out and make sure it is postmarked Friday or before.
